This CD contains all of the scripts referenced in the book "Oracle
Scripts" by Brian Lomasky and David C. Kreines.  The CD also contains
an evaluation copy of the "Q Diagnostic Center", a real-time monitoring
tool from Savant Corporation.

The scripts are provided in three different formats:
1. There are two directories: /dba and /tools, which contain the
   corresponding scripts (see "Installing the Scripts" in the
   Overview section of the book).
2. dba.tar and tools.tar are Unix tar files containing the
   corresponding scripts.  Use FTP to move these files (in binary
   mode) to a Unix environment, then run tar to extract the files.
3. dba.zip and tools.zip contain the corresponding scripts in
   PKZip format.  For your convenience, a copy of the ShareWare
   version of WinZip for Windows95 is also included on the CD.

We have included an evaluation copy of "Q" from Savant Corp. because
the authors feel that this real-time, graphical monitoring tools is
a high-quality product which nicely compliments the scripts contained
in the book.  However, neither the authors nor O'Reilly & Associates
have any connection with Savant Corporation, and cannot support that
product.  Please contact Savant directly at the phone numbers listed
below for installation support or other questions.

To install Q, you will first need to obtain a trial serial number
from Savant by calling Customer Support at 800-956-9541 (U.S. only)
or 301-581-0500.  Once you have obtained a serial number, follow
these instructions to install Q:

1. Make your CD-ROM drive the current drive (e.g., E:)
2. Change directories to \Q (e.g., cd \Q)
3. Type "setup" (without quotes) and press enter.
4. Follow the prompts on the screen.

To install the ShareWare copy of WinZip, make the CD-ROM drive the
current drive, and type "winzip95" and press enter.  Follow the
instructions on the screen.
