This screen cast shows you how to add a soundtrack, an audio soundtrack, to your slideshow. Now the first thing you need to do is pop a CD, an audio CD, into your CD drive.

Once you've done that and you've got your PowerPoint slideshow loaded as shown here you want to go up here to the Insert tab, click Insert, Sound, which you can find in the media clip section, and then Play CD Audio Track.

Now what you're gonna see is an Insert CD Audio dialogue box and this is gonna be prefilled with the tracks that exist on the CD audio that you've got in your drive. And what you want to do is come down here and click Loop Until Stopped and this will make sure that if your slideshow goes past the amount of audio on your CD that you're covered.

And then you want to go here and check the display options, Hide Sound Icon During the Slideshow. This'll make sure that that little bullhorn icon doesn't appear on your slideshow during playback.

Okay, turn on that checkbox and click "Okay." PowerPoint kicks up a little message asking you whether you want to start the sound automatically or when clicked. Typically you want to click Automatically. What this is gonna do is make sure that the audio starts as soon as your slideshow starts.

When you finish with that you'll notice the bullhorn icon here that lets you know you've added a sound to the first slide of your slideshow, you want to come up here to the setup section of the CD Audio Tools Options tab and click Play Track. And instead of automatically which is what it filled in for you, you want to choose Play Across Slides.

Okay, now to test that this soundtracks works as you expect you want to come down here to the slideshow icon and click, you're gonna run your slideshow. You notice that as soon as the first slide appears the audio CD that you put into your drive will start automatically.

Based on your settings, when you advanced to the next slide you notice that the music continues. The music will keep continuing and it'll loop if it has to until you hit Escape to end the slideshow.

And that's how you add a soundtrack to a PowerPoint slideshow.
